Great Ormond Street Hospital is a national treasure, synonymous with the highest standards of care and medical research. But one department’s treatment of a controversial disease has troubled fellow medical professionals for years.

For more than a year ITV’s current affairs programme Exposure has investigated why the hospital’s Gastroenterology Department has stopped taking new referrals for most conditions.

The film reveals some children were over-treated with potentially harmful drugs, interviews families about their child’s treatment and asks whether the hospital could have revealed more to former and current patients about a series of critical reviews.
